Quick note here. I’m crafting this weekly update and sending it early
because I need to get to the hospital. My wife is having yet another
surgery on her leg, the 3rd one in just over a month.
It wasn’t healing, so the knee surgeon referred her to a wound
specialist who has to open it up again, get out all the gook, harvest
a skin graft from her thigh, close her mostly up for a while and put
her on complete bed rest in a rehab facility for a couple weeks, then
cover the hole in her leg with the graft.
I didn’t talk to the new surgeon myself, and my wife forgets the
technical terms for the problem, but she seems to be confident that
the problem isn’t anyone’s “fault”, it’s caused by some sort of weak
skin that might have been a problem at any time. It was just that when
it was opened up for knee replacement surgery, and then closed, that
it became an issue.
The hospital nurse has complete confidence in him, he’s supposed to be
pretty good at this, and is also a plastic surgeon. She said my wife
will be dancing with me by Valentine’s Day.
So though 2016 is ending on a sour note, we’re looking forward to a
wonderful 2017, and I hope you are also.
