The phrase “thank goodness it’s Friday” (TGIF) was never so true as
today.
My wife underwent fix-up surgery on Monday after much pain and
suffering from the one in late November. It turns out there was a huge
fluid buildup in her leg, possibly caused or at least not helped by a
faulty replacement kneecap.
Coincidentally I read a newspaper article this week where the maker of
the replacements is settling with patients who had defective hip
replacement parts in the last several years, for $300,000+ for
followup surgery and pain and suffering. My friend, Google search,
tells me that there have been lots of lawsuits for defective knee
parts also, so we’ll be checking that out, for sure.
She came back home yesterday, and it will be a while before we know
how smoothly this one went. She’s determined to get out of the house
Christmas morning for our annual Christmas brunch at my son’s, and to
bake some cookies before then.
In addition, on Tuesday my son’s mother in law passed away after a
long and very difficult 3-year battle against colon cancer. Her
passing wasn’t unexpected, but at this time of year it’s tough. She
lived with my son and family most of those 3 years, and our 5-year old
granddaughter seems very sad and depressed. Hopefully we can cheer her
up a little on Sunday.
That’s the way it goes, right? The good and the bad, and hopefully
into each life you get more good than bad. I wish that for you, and
for a very happy holiday leading to a super-successful new year.
