Good morning.
It’s February and it’s been warm.
That’s nice, but it caused the first
of a few flashbacks for me this week.
I won’t get into the others, but it
was a warm day in February 2002, I
think it was around 60 or 70 degrees
in the morning, when an armed robber
entered our store with a gun.
He had been there with a juvenile
accomplice the prior year and got
away with some trading cards.
This time I was alone in the store
early in the morning, and he put a
gun to my back and was taking me
to the back so that he could do
whatever his plan was.
But then he saw my wife coming
up the back steps, and our UPS
delivery driver coming in the
front, and he got spooked and
ran off.
I called 911 and they found him
cowering in the bushes at a
nearby pre-school.
He was put away for about 10
years for the double armed
robberies.
So every February when it gets
really warm (which doesn’t happen
that often), I get the flashback.
What will the rest of winter be
like? I don’t know, and I don’t
trust ChatGPT to predict, so we’ll
take whatever comes.
I’m hoping for a relatively snow-
free winter (so far nothing), but
I’m expecting that we’ll get a
real whopper in March or April.
Que sera, sera, whatever will be,
will be.
