Happy Friday and welcome to November.
As the calendar turned, I was reminded that
very soon it will be too late to even think
about a Thanksgiving special promo.
I remember the first year that I did one
as an infomarketer, and it was fabulous, so
far not topped. Hmmm.
And I remember the year that I happened
(lucked?) upon the 5 Bucks a Day strategy.
It was around this time, and I was promoting
very successfully the Xbox 360 gaming system
that I wrote about inside 5 Bucks a Day later.
I had actually just started, and my strategy
was working, but hadn’t been for long, so I
watched the stats like a hawk every waking
hour…
… and I also remember that I would get
up in the middle of the night, around 2
or 3 a.m., to make sure my server was
still functioning, so that the traffic
that I was paying for with the paid ads
wasn’t wasted. That server wasn’t so
reliable, and it was a big concern.
Every now and then the server went
down, and I had to put in a support
ticket to wake things up, and shut
down the paid ads in the meantime.
And then, worrywart that I was…
I figured that Black Friday would be the end
of the good times for me because the retail
stores would get them in stock that day,
and no one would need to search the Internet,
to find my site that pointed them to eBay,
or that pointed them to ads that Adsense
was serving on my page.
So when my traffic absolutely exploded on
Black Friday, and I then heard that the stores
did have the games, but in very tiny quantities
and shoppers started panicking, finding my
pages and going through there to eBay, my
life suddenly changed.
I remember that day vividly. My paid ads
went through the roof. I was shaking so
much when I drove home from the store, I
was afraid I wouldn’t make it home.
Spending upwards of $1000 that day that
I couldn’t afford can do that to you.
But it all worked out.
The traffic and profits continued into
early January. By then, I figured out the
system could be applied to other niches
as well.
So yeah, November. Thanksgiving. Taking
ahold of opportunities.
Good times and memories. Make your own
this season, and I’ll try to make more
myself as well.
