Here in the U.S., this is the last unofficial
weekend of the “summer”, a.k.a. Labor Day
Weekend.
It’s starting out here as wet and windy, but
it’s been a heat wave all week up until today,
and it’s supposed to revert back to that
starting Sunday.
This morning was bright and noisy virtue of
thunderstorms that rolled in from the south
and off the ocean.
So the heat and humidity has gone away for
a day or two, which is welcome.
My brother has been staying with us at the
shore this week, and he’s leaving today to
return to Atlanta. Overall spending time with
him for the first time in several years was
nice, but other things that happened this
week put a damper on his plans, and ours.
Such is life, I guess.
Next week is back to school week for most
of the state. A new university campus was
built virtually across the street from our
shore condo in the last year, and students
have been moving in this week.
It will be very interesting to see what
sort of dynamic an additional 1000 students,
half of whom will be living in dorms
across the street, will bring to our area.
Hopefully we can co-exist nicely. I did hear
of an increased police presence in our
section of the city this week.
So as summer fades away, planning for the
rest of the year of 2018 and even part of
2019 begins in earnest.
