TGIF, right? Unless you’re one of our friends in the far East,
in which case, TGISaturday.
I’ve been working mostly, to the exclusion of almost everything
else besides keeping the membership sites running normally,
on the Sean Mize buyout, and trying to get a return on that
investment as quickly as possible.
I guess it’s been a couple weeks now, and we’re about 25%
there, so that’s not bad, but that’s not the only consideration,
by far, because the content is a long term business asset that
can be used in many ways, and will be for many years.
It’s a challenge, for sure, but I remember when I bought the
exclusive rights to Daily Seminar from Jason Fladlien and Robert
Plank back in 2009, for a whole lot more money, and with a
whole lot less experience, that month by month the investment
started paying more and more dividends.
I haven’t kept track of the income from that in a long time, but
the last time I did figure it, I think I had tripled the investment, so
that made this one less of a scary proposition.
And like I mentioned before, I’m now using that content in
many other ways, and have plans to do more of that in the
future.
One thing I did learn when running my brick and mortar store,
is that you have to invest money to make money.
I also learned to invest in ways that are more evergreen and
less of a fad or a one-hit wonder.
So even though a lot of IMers are very resistant to doing so,
even resistant to paid advertising, it’s essential if you want to
achieve your ultimate success.
Ignore my advice if you wish, but you’ll never convince me
otherwise.
But one of the most important considerations in making a
purchase such as we just did for Sean’s sites and products,
is how much time will it take to get your investment back,
and what will that do if you’re neglecting your current core
business?
Right now, it’s been costly in terms of time, but at some
point soon, I think that will be in the rear view mirror.
