Here in the U.S. it’s Black Friday, a huge shopping day for
many millions of Americans. Many stores started their sales
yesterday, actually
I rarely go shopping other than for things like groceries, but
I have to admit I went out last night and bought a few things.
My wife had a photo of our granddaughter that she wanted to
give to someone, that my son took yesterday, so I uploaded it
to the drug store site for pickup, and while I was there I
picked up a few specials they had.
But the store was relatively dead, and the employees really
looked depressed since they weren’t busy, and they obviously
would rather be home relaxing with family.
I so do not miss when I was in retail, and Black Friday was
supposedly the make or break day for our little store. It was
so depressing to hear about all the shoppers fighting for
bargains at the malls, while in our town, it was dead. We
did our best, and hoped beyond hope, but when the day was
over and the hope was gone, it wasn’t fun.
Things have sure changed, and I’m thankful for that, more
than I can ever describe. As Internet marketers we can schedule
an email or two and relax with our families the rest of the day.
What could be better than that?
So I always try to support our town’s local merchants, rather
than shop at the malls, whenever I possibly can.
