[Earn1KaDay] Goals, Promises, Reasons Why, and that EU thing…

by 5buckguy

We’ve reached December. Remember last year at this time, when we
were planning what we would accomplish in the new year?

How much of that came to fruition?

How much of that has moved forward to a 2015 goal?

Here’s a tip… First of all, before writing down a list of goals
or resolutions or whatever you want to call them for 2015, work on
your Reason Why first.

Why do you want to do what you want to do?

Is it just because you have to have a list?

Are the items on that list compelling in and of themselves?

Without a Reason Why, probably not.

If the things on the list are just there to make you feel good that
you have a reason to get up each morning, or just to make money,
then put some of them on your 5 Bucks a Day project list instead.
If you don’t know or remember what I’m referring to, read my first
book (5 Bucks a Day) or the sequel (5 Bucks a Day Revisited).

But yep, work on your Reason Why instead of your goals, first. Then
the goals.

But then, instead of calling them goals…

… call them promises. Promise yourself, or better yet, promise
your spouse or significant other or your accountability partner,
that without fail, you’re promising to accomplish this and that and
the other by (insert date here).

And then do it.

And then, when we have this chat next December, as we surely will,
you’ll be a light year ahead of where you are now.

But we still do have some time to finish our 2014 promises, so
let’s focus on them for another few weeks. :-)

==========

On another note, there have been some lively discussions this
week in the forum and in the Facebook group about the fact that
the European Union is asking businesses all over the world to
collect taxes for them from their residents that are purchasing
things including digitally downloaded products, and then forward
those payments to them.

I’m far from a lawyer, and I’m definitely not giving advice, but
I’m amazed and shocked at this request.

Yes, it’s been a “law” for over a decade, I understand, but
largely ignored because there was a threshold under which most
businesses likes ours fell.

But now there’s no threshold, so it impacts all sellers.

Amazon is making a confusing effort to comply. Clickbank has
always been in compliance, sort of.

I’ve seen comments from businesses that reside inside the EU,
who benefit from VAT, that say they’re not going to sell to
residents of their own country any more because the record
keeping is too complex.

How do you feel? See the links to the threads mentioned in this
email.

Personally, I don’t know what I’m going to do yet, since I only
learned of this issue this week, but there’s very little time
to decide since the new rules take effect January 1st.

My choices would be to comply and register with them and send
them a portion of my income. Or I could ignore them. Or what
many are thinking, I could stop selling to residents of the EU
countries.

All of those options, other than ignoring them, are very
complex technically.

But really, the bottom line is… where does it stop?

If I were declare a “law” that forced residents of my house
to contribute 25 cents every time they said a bad 4-letter word,
and then asked the rest of the world to send me money also when
they cursed, on the grounds that it offended me, who would pay
attention to me? What gives me the right to do that?

Anyway, that’s what the EU wants, let’s see what happens.

Remember, there’s a special section in the forum called “Special
Offers (By Authors), where members offer their products at a
special price to members.

I’d rather not highlight each one individually, so that this email
doesn’t start looking like a classified ad section, but sometimes
you can get some nice bargains and support your forum friends, so
please remember to check it out next time you drop by the forum:

Reminder: If you’re new to Earn1KaDay, or didn’t remember this, all
the weekly emails, from the beginning of time, are archived on the
blog here:

If you ever miss an email, or want to check the archives, you can
always go there and do a search.

Another reminder: I get asked (a lot) about the affiliate program
to Earn1KaDay. A thread was set up long ago with details, here:

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights, there is much
more going on all the time at the forum. Don’t be a stranger
there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
and share with each other, and as you can see from the above sample
threads, there’s a lot of that happening.

Until next week, I wish you the very best in everything.
