It’s been absolutely beautiful in northern New Jersey this week.
Yesterday was over 80 degrees, today is mid 70′s, sunshine, perfect.
But it’s about to get very noisy, as the ground warms up, I read
today that the magic temperature is 64 degrees 8 inches below ground
level, when the 17-year cicadas will pop up for the first time since…
17 years ago. They’ll shed their exoskeletons, mate, the females will
lay their eggs, and then the kiddies will go below ground for another
17 years.
While they’re up here, they’ll be messy and noisy, around 120
decibels. Isn’t nature wonderful?
But beyond that, my granddaughter turned 1.5 this week, and my son
had a birthday also.
And… Earn1KaDay turned 6, officially today when we welcomed the
first member (Michael Gunn and a bunch of others), but the site was
put together on May 16th when I registered myself… so that’s why
I started the birthday event on the 16th.
Thanks to all who have been here through the 6 years, some have
been here the entire 6 years, and that’s very gratifying.
These last couple weeks I’ve been working hard to freshen up
things, and there will be more coming.
This week alone I started the Facebook group (thanks to Barb Ling
and Connie Ragen Green for their help as well, and all who have
volunteered to be group leaders in their specialties), and we ran
the first Google Hangout session.
There will be another hangout next week, and topic ideas are coming
fast and furious.
So, all in all, it’s a good time to be alive, and it’s a good time
to be a member of Earn1KaDay. I hope you agree.

there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
