This week started out slowly. I thought I had made a good decision,
after reading and watching the news, to get a flu shot.
I’d never had one before, and probably actually get the flu once
every 5 or 10 years, but word on the street was that it was really,
really bad this year, epidemic proportions.
And I remembered the year that I had the flu turn into walking
pneumonia and linger on for over 2 months, which was no fun… so…
… not wanting to sit in the doctor’s waiting room waiting to get
infected, I decided to go to the drug store on Sunday and get it
there. So far so good, and insurance paid whatever charge it was.
And then… after receiving said shot, I read the brochure about
the side effects that could last a couple days, and proceeded to
get most of the medium complication ones (severe complications
included death, which I didn’t notice as having happened).
Blah… but at least they only lasted 2 days.
On Tuesday, I felt much better and my wife informed me that she had
indeed scratched her cornea again, and needed me to drive her to
the eye doctor, and to her regular doctor for a regular
appointment, and of course pick her up from each spot (again, I
wasn’t going to sit in the waiting room waiting to get whatever new
disease I hadn’t been immunized against).
And of course, multiple eye drops for her 3 times a day, which she
isn’t good at doing herself, so I drive home midday to do that.
Thank goodness I work for myself and close by. Her eye has now
turned from looking like a beet’s inside to just slightly pink, so
I guess that’s good.
So… crazy week, but getting better. Life happens.
Speaking of life, we went to my son’s last night to see the
granddaughter. It’s amazing how quickly the young’uns progress,
isn’t it? Christmas Eve, she was just starting to take her first
little steps, and with a little holding onto my finger she “walked”
from the kitchen to the living room.
Last night, just a few weeks later, she’s walking all over
unassisted, carrying her toys over to grandma and grandpa, dropping
them off, and going back to bring another load. She tired me out
just watching. 
So that got me thinking a bit, isn’t Internet marketing like that?
We start out completely clueless, and after a while we realize that
if we find someone further along, and watch what they do, and maybe
latch onto their methods like little Antonia held onto my finger,
eventually we’ll be able to start “walking” by ourselves.
And after a while we get stronger and more confident and given the
proper guidance we’ll be more independent and successful, and yes,
it gets to be really, really fun.
But remember, like a child, like any human, we’re never completely
independent to the point where we don’t need some help now and then.
And even more important to remember, while we might still be
learning some things, we have our own skills that we can pass onto
others, so we start holding out our fingers for others to grab onto
and show THEM the way.
And they look at you like… isn’t he or she just amazing and
brilliant and so nice, and that gives you a feeling that, again, is
just really, really fun.
We just have to be careful that we can trust who we’re latching
onto, and be honest and ethical with those we have influence over,
and if that’s the situation, everything works.
So shall the circle of life, and Internet marketing, continue.
