I consider myself very, very fortunate. Superstorm Sandy came and
went, and left behind destruction and tears everywhere in her
vicinity, near and far, and our local area (New Jersey) took the
worst of it, but my home was spared.
The only inconvenience was being without power for a day and a half
and having to throw out most of the food in my freezer and
refrigerator, but others around here have lost homes, cars, will be
without power in the cold for as much as a week or two longer. I’m
very thankful.
If you saw any of the films or photos, the Jersey shore was
decimated and will never be the same again. The New York City mass
transit system has been virtually destroyed. Fortunately people are
working together and government officials are helping prioritize
things and provide funds so that help and hope is on the way. The
infrastructure will be repaired and rebuilt, but the cost will be
huge.
It’s amazing to see lines for gas again. Most stations are closed,
either because of no electricity or they ran out. There’s one open
station in town and lines go for several blocks. I drove by there
today and there were probably 50 people standing in line, on foot,
with gasoline cans, probably to refill their generators.
I did make a good decision on Sunday, I decided to fill up the
tanks of both my wife’s car and mine, because I figured prices
would go up, or supplies would be tough. I paid $3.35. Those who
waited until after the storm are waiting in line for up to 5 hours,
and prices have risen, of course. Some are waiting hours in line
only to have the pumps run dry before they get there. Some are even
running out of gas waiting in line. I’ve read stories about some
stations charging as much as $10 a gallon. The station in town
that’s open is charging $3.65, which I think is reasonable.
I don’t have a generator, I keep saying that each storm that knocks
out power for days is a very rare event, so why bother. We’ve had 3
so-called “once in a hundred years” storms in the last 3 years. I
suppose it’s time.
One reason I bought my condo this summer was so that I had an
alternative home to go to when power got knocked out here. Well,
it’s even worse there. Atlantic City was totally evacuated, they’re
not letting people back yet because the water supply isn’t safe to
drink. I did call my condo association yesterday, they checked out
my unit and said it’s fine. Again, I’m very thankful.
A large part of my good fortune is because I’m an Internet
marketer. I don’t have to drive to work. I made money while I was
without power. I had emails queued up to be sent automatically,
whether I was able to push a button or not. If I had to drive,
things would have been much worse.
Those of you that aren’t full time IM’ers yet, and looking for that
elusive “why” that I keep preaching about, maybe this example can
be your why. You won’t have to leave home if you don’t want to, and
the income will keep coming in, even if you’re in the dark.
For those of you in the storm’s area of influence, I hope you’re
safe and warm, and that it never happens again to any of us. It’s
just so sad to see people hurt so badly.
If you have a chance, tonight at 8 p.m. eastern, New Jersey
megastars Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, as well as many other
entertainers are televising a concert for the benefit of those in
need. I think it’s on the NBC network but probably others will show
it as well. They’ll probably show some of the destruction to our
state. I’ll be watching and I encourage you to as well.

Have you run across any products or WSO’s that you’d like to have,
but not have to pay for?
Remember, if something has licensing rights that allow it to be added
to a paid membership site, I’ll consider purchasing it for Earn1KaDay.
To request something, put a link in either the WSO Reviews section,
or if not a WSO, in the Product Reviews section, asking for feedback
and “votes” as to who else would be interested in it.
If there are enough positive votes, I’ll probably pick it up.
Actually sometimes products that are requested are already in the
download area anyway.

Remember, there’s a special section in the forum called “Special
Offers (By Authors), where members offer their products at a
special price to members.
I’d rather not highlight each one individually, so that this email
doesn’t start looking like a classified ad section, but sometimes
you can get some nice bargains and support your forum friends, so
please remember to check it out next time you drop by the forum:

Reminder: If you’re new to Earn1KaDay, or didn’t remember this, all
the weekly emails, from the beginning of time, are archived on the
blog here:
http://www.earn1kaday.net/wp/
If you ever miss an email, or want to check the archives, you can
always go there and do a search.
Another reminder: I get asked (a lot) about the affiliate program
to Earn1KaDay. A thread was set up long ago with details, here:

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights, there is much
more going on all the time at the forum. Don’t be a stranger
there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
and share with each other, and as you can see from the above sample
threads, there’s a lot of that happening.
