Welcome back to another Earn1KaDay update.
As I’m sure you’re aware, Steve Jobs passed away all too soon this
week. Though probably few of us had the privilege of meeting him in
person, he had a great influence on many of our lives. The Mac, the
iPod, the iPad, the iPhone, and more exist because of his genius.
At one point not that long ago, a macintosh was just an apple, and
an apple was best known as a fruit.
Steve Jobs changed that. He was more than just a genius, he
was a visionary who changed lives for the better.
I was a Macintosh user in the early 80′s, I actually purchased it
specifically because it was necessary to drive the Apple
LaserPrinter, which cost $6000, the first of its kind I believe,
and I really wanted to do state of the art (at the time) desktop
publishing.
I got great mileage out of that printer and produced training
courses for my consulting business that made me a nice income for
years.
Today we could do the same desktop publishing from a printer that
costs around $100, but Apple, because of Steve Jobs, was ahead of
its time and I appreciated it then, and mourn his loss now.
It also made me think that no one, regardless of how much money
they make, no matter how much good they do for the planet, is
immortal. It also made me remember that a year ago today I was
facing surgery the next day that really worried me, and had
prepared a long letter to my survivors as to what to do if
something went wrong.
When I prepared that letter, it made me appreciate how lucky I had
been up until then, and appreciate my family and friends. A year has
passed, and I am even luckier now than I was back then.
I need to review that letter, actually, and update it, since
someday something will go wrong, to each and every one of us. We
should appreciate and reflect on that in advance, and consider it
when making decisions about what’s most important in our lives.
I know that the world won’t mourn my passing like it did for Mr.
Jobs, but still I’d love to leave behind something that people will
remember. That’s what drives me today, and I hope I can succeed.

Another member of Earn1KaDay has made it to the WSO of the Day
club, and I’m thrilled that it’s my partner Rachel, for this week’s
