What a crazy week. First an earthquake (didn’t even realize it was
one until I heard about it from the media, but I did feel something
for a few seconds that made me think I was getting queasy).
Now we’re expecting a visitor named Irene, whether a hurricane or
tropical storm, sometime this weekend. If nothing else it will
bring lots of rain, for sure, and this month has been a soaking
month already, so the ground’s saturated and so are the rivers and
reservoirs at a relatively high point already.
The latest news this morning has it coming straight at us, and
yesterday’s forecast of 40 to 60 mph winds has been upgraded to 80
to 100 late Saturday night through Sunday evening. I’m doing my
best to get ready, but I have to admit I’m a little worried about
this one.
What really has me worried is the fact that the news story said
this one will be equivalent in strength to Katrina.
