Copywriting Made Easy

by Rachel Rofe

Hola guys,

Welcome to my first blog post here! :D

To kick off my new post, I wanted to discuss copywriting.

I know many people get super-overwhelmed at the prospect of facing the blank screen. I used to be one of those people until I learned some super-stellar tactics. :)

Watch the video below to see some of my best tricks for knocking that copy out:

I hope you enjoy it, and please let me know if you have any questions or comments! :)

With love,

Rachel

Rachel, you’re awesome. I love the copyrighting information you provide here, but I love that you’re doing it from a Panera! Way to go :-)

Please keep the content rolling. Love your “real” natural style. And besides, Dennis asked me to beg you. Heh! But I would have done it anyway.

Wohoo, new life on the blog ;)

Your video is great Rachel. Very useful tips. You make copy writing sound like it’s easy. =) Also thank you for mentioning the WP Sales Engine Plugin. Awesome tool! Never heard of it before.

    Looking forward to other videos.

Woo hoo! Great first post Rachel! :D Good info.. only gripe is I couldn’t read your mind map, lol..too small and I’m half blind. ;) But you look lovely, and I could hear you so you’re forgiven. Plus you’re braver than me I shy away from video thus far. :D

Excellent. Nice to learn how others do it, and what others think are important.
Do I agree that Jason could beat Gary Bencivenga? Hmmmmm. You don’t think Gary knows those tricks, and maybe has a few more up his sleeve? :)
Even though, I, too love Jason & his products. :)
    Nice, information-packed video.

    Thanks Rachel!
Those are great tips. I’m guilty of getting caught up in the salescopy when the offer is what I should be focusing on beefing up. Tim doesn’t do refunds? *shock* ;-)

The offer… the offer… the offer… Good to be reminded about how important that single piece of copy is.

    Thanks.

Nice summary Rachel. I totally agree about using Action Enforcer to time things. Writing copy, especially, can use up all your time and more if you let it. Setting a deadline for finishing a first draft is the way I do it. Then I leave whatever copy I’ve written for a day or so and go back to edit it and add whatever I think is missing.

I’m with you on guarantees, too. It’s all about reducing risk and happy customers.

Biggest takeway: if you are going to spend three weeks improving conversions, spend the first two tweaking the offer.

Really enjoyed the video Rachel. Plenty of food for thought.

I totally agree that when writing copy, or writing anything online for that matter, you need to be yourself whilst also writing to your target audience, or specifically a member of your target audience.

If anything else it gets you thinking more about their wants, needs and desires. I’ve made this critical writing mistake too many times that I care to mention.

Would love it if you could share your templates in the members area too!

    Thanks.

    Garry.

Great post, Rachel! And perfect timing — I just decided last week to start trying to improve my copywriting skills!

Also, even though I’ve been following you for a while (geez – that sounds creepy! Guess I should’ve just called myself a long-time customer so you don’t think I’m cyberstalking you or something! LOL!) my old computer never had sound, so I think this is the first video I’ve seen you in. You have such a pretty voice! :)

Wonderful video, Rachel! I love your style and your way of thinking about copy.

    Keep them coming!

We definitely want that template over at E1KAD ;)

    Rachel,

Thanks for the awesome video. You and Dennis are off to a running start with this Blog and I took some very useful information from this.

I especially appreciate finding out about the WP Sales Engine Plugin.

In the future, I hope you talk a little,(or a lot!), about swipe files – where you have gone to get yours, are they digital or on paper, do you hand-write them out to train your brain like Gary Halbert recommended, etc.

    In other words… MORE! MORE!

Really great video, Rachel. All the important points summarized very succinctly – a great blueprint for constructing a sales page. I also just recently purchased WP Sales Engine, and looking forward to trying it out!

Hi Rachel, Thank you so much for sharing your ideas, I really appreciate it. It is amazing how some of these ideas can really change a life. There is so much bogus stuff out there in the web world, predator SEO garbage and selfish people in the market that it is very motivating and encouraging to hear some great ideas from you – yes – and also how they are presented with such good will. Also loved your “double your money” video, great for an artist like me that needs reminding to focus on the analytical stuff. Thanks again.

    Rachel,

So, this drunk pig walks into a bar…

Wait a minute, that’s another story!

I am only 4 minutes 23 seconds into this video and I had to pause it.

My head is already spinning because you have just shown me where I went wrong with my last sales letter and I just called my copy writer on Skype to make sure he gets these ideas into the next draft.

This is priceless and and calling it timely doesn’t do justice to how badly this was needed today.

All the greatest copy in the world will not convert unless your customers feel like they are getting MORE than their money’s worth.

Thanks for this post and thanks for taking the time to remind even the high priced copy writers to create a strong offer FIRST, then worry about the copy.

Your blog is now RSS’d to my desk top!

    Thanks again,

    Roger

I’m sorry, I just find this insulting. I don’t like videos anyway — lazy way to communicate that dominates MY time and attention without any respect for it — and the noise and distractions are just too much.

    Thanks for your comment!

I don’t mean to be snarky, but I’ve got to wonder how much money you’re making?

In my experience it’s been the people who take time to point out mistakes/flaws are often not taking much action.

I’d much rather get something out there (you can look at the comments to see how many people appreciated it) versus waiting around to make sure all the conditions are just “perfect”.

But that’s just me, and I of course honor your opinion too. Have a great day!

The authenticity thing is something a lot of people struggle with, I think… especially in a world of “you should be this way, not that way”, you know?

:) I’m so glad you got some info from this! Wahoo!!

Have you downloaded WP Sales Engine yet? I’d love to hear how in love you are with it!

I haven’t done TOO much with swipe files, but here’s a cool tip – my boyfriend not only hand writes them out but he READS THEM out loud, records them, and plays them back for his subconscious to hear.

I don’t think many people talk about that but it really helps internalize them.

I like to look through swipe files for ideas (LOVE John Carlton’s work) and then do my own spins on them.

I also love John Carlton’s “Power Words” for making copy a lot more visual, you know?

Does that help? Let me know what you’d like me to expand on and I’ll be happy to. :)
