November. Hmm. I’m looking at my white board with the things that I
wanted to accomplish for 2009. It looks like some won’t get done.
But then again, there have been things accomplished that I could
never have imagined “way back then” in December 2008, and profit
wise more than made up for it.
But it does seem like I got more done this week than normal. Maybe
I’m all hyped up on the leftover Halloween candy from last weekend.
No kids at home anymore, so my wife and I have to dispose of it
somehow.
How are you doing?

##############################################
Well, this week went quickly and took some twists and turns. The
feedback from Tim’s webinar last week was so good that we decided
to do another one.
First I thought it would be a short one, just to answer questions
that came in after the live event was over, and maybe held
privately, but then Tim volunteered to spill the beans on a new
technique he’s been using recently.
It seems his exposure to all you nice guys and girls in the forum
has him liking you a lot.
So that webinar was yesterday and it was fantastic. If you didn’t
attend live, the recording will be put up soon, maybe today, and
the transcript should be ready sometime next week.
Tim did another special offer yesterday. Yes, the webinar explained
in great detail how to “How to Get All the Offline Clients You Want
For Free”, which was the title, but in preparing for the webinar I
explained to Tim that a lot of people like “done for you” solutions
as long as they come at a reasonable cost.
So, after a bit of arm twisting, Tim put up another special offer
including a virtually complete business list for any state in the
U.S. or province in Canada, which he normally sells for $40, for
free. After seeing that, I said “not enough”, because that wouldn’t
be giving such a good deal to international viewers, so we came up
with two more “done for you” items. One, a prewritten report that
you can send to your prospects, just change your name and company
name, and two, a sample agreement or contract.
The thread explaining the special offer is here:
http://www.earn1kaday.net/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9289
The feedback from the webinar was fabulous. It ran even longer than
the first one, with approximately 90 minutes of questions and
answers. I doubt that anyone on the live call went away thinking
they wasted their time. And certainly, even if you have no interest
in spending the money for Tim’s special, you can get started finding
local business prospects immediately with potentially great results.
Even just one portion of the training had immediate results worth
mentioning. Tim showed live how to get outsourcers through odesk.
He put up a sample job listing just to show how it was done, and
before he had a chance to delete that listing, he had around 25
applicants in less than 2 hours. Nathan decided to try it also,
and had similar results. The thread is here:
http://www.earn1kaday.net/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9287
So, the webinar was held to show people how to use email to get
prospects for offline services. But additionally it shows how to do
outsourcing effectively. I hope you get a chance to watch it soon
if you weren’t with us yesterday. And with encouragement like this,
it will make it easier for me to entice people of Tim’s caliber to
hold webinars with me in the future, as well as come join our
little group.
If you don’t mind, please post your feedback about the webinar, as
well as any follow up questions, in this thread:

Lastly, the thread where you’ll find the recording and transcript
when they’re ready, and a copy of Tim’s slide show now, is here:

Forum threads of note:
Christy found this cool site with tons of ideas. If your “think
outside the box” engine is sluggish, try going through these for 15
minutes:

Speaking of thinking outside the box, Andy found an excellent video
to illustrate that ability:

Anne has had some bad experience with HostGator performance.
Trouble is she never noticed until recently. I never noticed a
problem either, but it bears looking into:

Hopefully it was an isolated thing with the server Anne was on,
which is shared with other accounts, so it might not be a universal
problem. If you’ve had similar experiences, be sure to comment in
the thread.

Looks pretty interesting, actually, for building backlinks.

The “just right” keyword density formula has been debated for
years. What’s your experience? Or maybe you’re looking to learn
from the experience of others:

For email marketers, Stacy links to an aWeber page that discusses
something that might interest you about the From address:

Actually, I’ve heard that the From address is almost as important
as the Subject line in getting an email opened, so testing is
definitely in order. In fact I changed my From address for this
email, did you notice?

Larry found a post in another forum by an experienced offline
marketer, saying that offline marketing “is tough”.
http://www.earn1kaday.net/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9252
I suspect he (the forum owner that Larry quoted) has a product
coming out along the lines of “Adsense is dead” (remember that
series), but there are some good points in the post that Larry
quoted.
Still, I have to disagree with a lot of what he had to say, and I
had a few minute rant session on the webinar with Tim yesterday.

I mentioned Microworkers for tiny task outsourcing last week. I’m
trying them out, and so far I have to say I’m not impressed. A job
I submitted for blog commenting has had quite a few pretty poor
comments, many of which I had to reject.
Plus I sent an email to support, they say it can take up to 5 days
to get a response. I received a response yesterday after I think 3
days. What I can’t understand is why it takes so long for them to
reply with so few members of their system (less than 100 jobs
posted, and most of them have been there for weeks or months, so
obviously not much going on).
Anyway, my question was how I could list jobs to write articles.
You have to accept at least 30 workers. So sure, you can list 30
keyword phrases, but you have no control over which phrase the
workers write about. So the question was, how to prevent the chance
that you’d have 30 workers and they would only cover 2 or 3 phrases,
since the tendency would be to do the one at the top.
Here’s the original thread:
http://www.earn1kaday.net/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9231
Bottom line is, don’t get too excited about this place, Mechanical
Turk still rules I would say, for this type of outsourcing.
Oh, the answer to my question:
“In your case I would suggest you list 100 keywords and ask Workers
to select a random keyword. That is how other Employers usually do
it.”
It doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling about them at all.

Ian found an interesting article about the power of ezinearticles
and blogspot:

And lastly, Veteran’s Day is coming up next week in the U.S. I
think it’s fair to say we appreciate all those that have given
their time and sometimes their lives and/or come back home
disabled, in the service of their country.
Tom found out that Applebee’s in the U.S. is giving a free meal to
veterans with identification to prove their status. I’ll be there,
if you happen to be at the one in Hackensack NJ that day, stop and
say hello.

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights, there is much
more going on all the time at the forum. Don’t be a stranger
there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
and share with each other, and as you can see from the above sample
threads, there’s a lot of that happening.
