Earn1KaDay News For Friday, May 22nd

by 5buckguy

Welcome back to my weekly digest of Earn1KaDay news. In the U.S.,
we’re celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, it would have been a
welcome day off, but I have work to do which you’ll benefit from,
which I’ll explain later. I hope you have a relaxing day though.

Here are this week’s new downloads:

Recurring Income Streams Webinar:

This is the recording of the “practice” webinar I did last Saturday
with Michael Gunn. As I mentioned in my mid-week email, where I
provided that link also, I forgot to press the button to open the
doors to the public. Lesson learned, painfully. But I think the
presentation went well other than that. Your feedback is
definitely welcome.

A couple things are happening of note.

First, the Earn1KaDay seminar DVD set. I started a thread here:
http://www.earn1kaday.net/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7799

The short story is the price is going up on about May 25th, Monday,
from $97 for members to $147, and from $197 to the general public
to $297.

I continue to recommend that every member should take advantage of
the opportunity to watch the recordings of the seminar sessions.
It was a no-pitch zone in Orlando, as you’ll see. The sales page
has tons of testimonials from the people that were there, and I can
guarantee that you’ll agree the value in these 8 DVD’s is several
times as much as what you’ll pay, at least. If you don’t agree,
send them back for a full refund.

Now on to not so pleasant things. Recently I did an experimental
promotion where I let a limited number of people have access for a
15-day trial for $1.00. It worked OK in that we got several new
members. Unfortunately …

Someone joined, cancelled at the very end of the 15 days so he
wouldn’t have to pay the $39.95 for the first full month. That’s
not a problem, but what was a problem was that when Steve Warwick
was checking stats the other day, he noticed that this person had
accessed over 43,000 pages in May alone, before he cancelled.

That’s relative to my activity, which was just over 6,000 pages
through the 20th of the month. Considering I’m at the forum
virtually all day, 7 days a week, someone having 7 times my
activity is not likely to happen in the real world.

Now, I’m not sure what our scraper was able to walk off with, I
suspect that he had some software that tried to access everything
it could, and I suspect that it was getting captcha’s which it
couldn’t respond to, so I’m not totally disgusted. Just a little
disgusted.

For that reason, Steve has come up with a routine that will
temporarily ban any member that exceeds a certain page limit in a
certain period of time. The exact formula is proprietary, but I
assure you it’s more than reasonable. We’ve been testing this for
several days and the limit is well more than any member has reached.
In fact I’d be shocked if you ever see the message.

But… if you were to receive a message that you’ve been banned and
reported to admin, all you have to do is contact one of us by
email, and we can address the situation. It’s not our intention to
lock out any valid user doing any valid access, we’re just trying
to protect the assets of this site that you’re paying for from
being stolen by those who aren’t quite so serious. Scrapers and
serial downloaders rob the site of precious bandwidth and make
things go slowly for everyone while they’re active.

By the way, another thing that prompted this project was a message
that I saw on one of the hacker forums, about Earn1KaDay. On the
sales page, people are allowed to join an email list, and they
receive several reports over the course of a few weeks with some of
the top threads of the last two years. Evidently this hacker was
suitably impressed by our content, because here was his post
(misspelling and all):

“This is the stuff you find inside 1k a day. Maybe admin would want
to do a group by and suck that forum’s threads/posts dry.”

Running a membership site isn’t always fun and games. Thank
goodness I have Steve to help me keep a watch out for the bad guys.

Forum threads of note:

Adam posted an interesting lesson:

Steve isn’t posting this as a “how to” lesson, but as a warning
about how people can easily steal your downloads, if you aren’t
being proactive about protecting your assets:

Another 5 Bucks a Day webinar coming:

Robert Plank and Jason Fladlien are helping me do my next webinar,
a 45 minute one on Monday. You’re welcome to attend, one of them
will be pushing the start button, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
I’d love to see you attend live, but it will be recorded.

StevenR had a “slight” problem with ePN recently, the story will
probably interest you:

Fortunately it has a relatively happy ending, other than the fact
that ePN pretty much stole 7 days worth of cookie sales from him
while they were investigating for a reason that they wouldn’t share.

What’s a week without a success story, right? Last week Hendra had
his launch, and as expected, thanks to the overwhelming support of
the Earn1KaDay community, he had his 1K day:

Ron Davies has started contributing some of his best content about
Twitter, these are great:

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights, there is much
more going on all the time at the forum. Don’t be a stranger
there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
and share with each other, and as you can see from the above sample
threads, there’s a lot of that happening.

Until next week, I wish you the very best in everything.

Dennis, the 5 Bucks a Day Guy.
