I hope your week has gone well, I’m a little frustrated right now.
I was hoping to get something sort of special ready by the time I
sent this email, and it hasn’t happened. More on that later when I
talk about personal challenges.

Rant on: I’m getting real tired of WSO’s where the seller can’t
deliver on time. I understand preselling some things, but when you
say it will be done within 7 days, and 3 weeks later they’re still
saying it will be done within 7 days, well, there’s just no excuse
for that. It there’s a possiblility that things will get in the
way, like outsourcers that don’t deliver on time, like the flu, like
family emergencies, like problems with FTP, then they should just
wait to sell the thing when it’s done.
I do remember the people that pull these games, and I doubt that I’ll
ever purchase from them again in the future.

there is no reason that it won’t do well.”

do your articles on the same day as everyone else. Just set your
goal or promise to yourself, a date, and just do it. Post your
promise in the thread and it will be more likely to happen.

Edwin had an idea. He had the skills. He had the courage to post
a personal challenge to finish his product in 24 hours. It looks
like he put in a full day, and guess what? He did it!
Even better, he’s offering his product, which is a pretty neat

Let that serve as motivation, and if you like what he’s done, get
it while the special is on.
Congratulations to Edwin, but the thing is, we all have this potential
within us to just set our mind to it, figure out what we want to do,
and just do it. What have you always wanted to do if you had the
time, that could produce income for you? Chances are it won’t take
as much time as you think.
For months, I wanted to write a little report about my personal
strategy, I thought it would be popular, I thought it would make a
good squeeze page giveaway, but I thought it would take too long.
Then one day I said to myself, I need to just to it. I sat down,
started writing, and the next day it was done. I showed it around,
got some feedback, spent another couple days on it, then worked for
a day on the sales page. That project was 5 Bucks a Day, and it
branded me for life, I think in a good way. It seriously changed
my life.
You could do something like that as well. Find an idea, and for
goodness sakes, post your personal challenge and go off and do it.
Maybe you can’t do it in 24 hours like Edwin, but a tremendous amount
can be accomplished in 24 hours if you focus like the devil on the
task at hand. Try it, you’ll like it.

In fact, I set a personal challenge for myself this week Actually I
had a few major projects going, but one thing I wanted to do has been
on my project list for many months. I finally decided, once the
other urgent priorities on my list were done, to do a fun project
instead of an income generating project.
So … what I wanted to do was get the “buy me a beer”
functionality done for the Earn1KaDay forum. I had actually done
it for the 5bucksaday forum quite a while ago, but I didn’t like
the way I did it over there particularly, so I decided to do this
one right.
I wanted to have it done by now, but I ran into 2 problems that are
very frustrating with the programming code. It’s almost there, but
not quite done. I hope to figure it out today or by the end of the
weekend (and thanks, I’m sure there are a few good PHP coders that
will offer to help and could do it quicker, but I want to do this
myself).
So what will this do for us? Well, if you’re familiar with the old
Warrior Forum, they coded in the “buy me a beer” function
originally so that people could send donations to people that made
great posts. I’m sure that people actually did donate occasionally
to show appreciation, but what it did more than anything was make
it easy for Warriors to run WSO’s, and take payments by just having
someone click on the beer icon, send money, and deliver manually.
Unfortunately, unless they added it recently, when they moved to
their new forum software, the buy me a beer functionality
disappeared. I know a lot of people miss it.
For us, the same two situations will be available. Someone could
set up a special offer and take payments that way. Or what I’m
hoping, more than anything, is for it to encourage others to either
make great contributions to the forum, and for others to show their
appreciation.
Like for example, when Nathan coded the application to pull
EzineArticles titles, and dozens (hundreds?) of people rushed out
and used it, it would make sense to me that, even though he wasn’t
asking for financial rewards, that a few people would show their
appreciation by sending him whatever they thought it was worth to
them.
One day, I’m sure you’ll contribute something, and the old pay it
forward formula will return the rewards to you, this will be a tool
that I hope will be useful to all in that regard.
So, if you go to your profile page, you’ll now see a box where you
can enter your PayPal address. Once my work is done, on any forum
post, you’ll see an icon at the bottom, if the member has filled in
their PayPal address, enabling someone to send him or her some
PayPal money. Simple as that, click on the button, it will go to
PayPal, you fill in the amount you want to send, attach a note as
to what it’s for, and it will be beamed to the person.
It’s not done yet, but look for it soon. Once you see the “beer”
icon at the bottom of my posts, you’ll know you can fill in your
profile with your PayPal address. Don’t worry, giving up that
information will not enable someone to take money out of your
account automatically, it will only allow them to put money INTO
your account.

That’s just a short review of some of the highlights, there is much
more going on all the time at the forum. Don’t be a stranger
there, that’s where the primary value of your membership is, after
all. We’re not there to chat so much (though there is a lounge
there if you want to unwind), we’re there to learn from each other,
and share with each other, and as you can see from the above sample
threads, there’s a lot of that happening.
