It’s October already, are you ready for the holiday season? I
don’t mean have you done your personal shopping, I mean are you
ready for the shoppers that will come to your sites, MMS or
otherwise? With the current financial crisis and lots of people
worried about the economy, things are shaky, but history predicts
that parents don’t break tradition, they always want their children
and loved ones to feel the love, even if it means sacrificing in
other ways.
They will obviously be wanting to save money, so I expect many more
will look for bargains online, and on eBay, so crank up some MMS’s,
do some bookmarking, or launch those AdWords campaigns (and Yahoo
ones as well, or instead, which so far haven’t had any slaps that I
know of).

NEWS:
I’m still working on the move to the new server, hopefully it will
be ready soon, I’m aiming for this coming week. There have been
some complications, but nothing that won’t be solved in the very
near future. Here’s my plan, just so you know what to expect.
Right now I’m planning to first move the members area (the forum,
the download area, the blog) to earn1kaday.net. I already have
that domain set up on the new server (please, please don’t go
there, it will only confuse you and might interfere with our
testing!). You should continue to use the same links you already
use, except your requests will be redirected to the new domain
(automatically), when the time is right and not before.
In fact, don’t bookmark the url’s on the new domain because
eventually the earn1kaday.com domain will be moved to the new
server and the redirection will end (and Earn1KaDay.net will be
removed or used in some other way).
So, that’s step one, to move the current stuff to earn1kaday.net
for the members area, but the sales page and other outer folders
will continue to reside on the old server.
Then, when all looks well, we’ll move the rest also, but that will
take longer. For example, all the sales pages have to be revised
because of the fact that the thank you pages need to be integrated
into the PayPal buttons and Clickbank product setups, which
requires new product approvals at Clickbank. Scripts have to be
tested, etc., and I’m not so concerned with some of the odd
functions being on a slower server anyway. My primary concern is
getting the forum to operate at peak efficiency.
At the time of the move, I’ll change the forum main page to display
a message that the move is in progress. You won’t be able to get
in. Do not, I repeat do not, try to type in the earn1kaday.net
domain if you see that message. At that time I’ll be backing up
the forum database on earn1kaday.com and moving it to
earn1kaday.net. When that’s done, I’ll turn on the redirection
code, and you’ll suddenly see exactly what you normally would,
except up in the address bar it will say .net instead of .com.
Again, don’t bookmark the .net URL’s.
In fact you’ll see all the links in the download area, and
elsewhere, all linking to the earn1kaday.com url’s, even though
they’ll really reside on Earn1KaDay.net temporarily. Redirection
should take care of everything.
I’ll attempt to schedule the transition during a typically slow
time, and it should take less than two hours, barring any problems.
We will be testing in advance, of course, but you know how
Murphy’s Law goes. I’ll send out an email in advance of the move,
and post a note in the forum, and send out an email after the move
has finished, so if you read my emails, there should be no surprises.
Let me know if you see any flaws in my plan, I think I have it
under control though.
The purpose of the new server is to give faster and more consistent
performance to the members forum. Earn1KaDay.com is currently on a
dedicated server, and is being moved to a new dedicated server that
will be faster than the old one, and I’ll be better able to control
things. I also have Steve Warwick (clickbuild) helping me on an
ongoing basis to make sure it will be more secure and efficient.
