Earn1KaDay Updates For 08/08/08

by 5buckguy

Thanks for reading my weekly emails. I hope you learn something
occasionally, that’s why I do this, as well as to keep you updated
with new stuff that your membership contains. Last week, if you
remember, I had the problem of losing my hard drive. Well, life
goes on, I’ve got back most of what I needed, I learned from the
experience and am backing up more religiously now, and hopefully
one or two members took the hint to do some preventive measures as
well.

As I’ve learned in the past, struggles like this come along all the
time, and my attitude has always been “this too will pass”, and it
always does. So now I’m pretty much moving fully forward instead
of backward like last week.

Here are this week’s new downloads:

SEO For WordPress:

The SEO for WordPress one, like so many recently, is pretty large,
over 100 MB, which led to the discussion I started last week about
providing some downloads on CD (optionally, you can always download
them online if you have high speed access). That discussion led to
the idea, why not put them on DVD instead, which can hold more,
which sounded like a good idea, assuming most people have DVD
readers on their computer.

So, I started a poll:
http://www.earn1kaday.com/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4595

Please tell me if you’re interested or not in this service, and if
interested if you have a computer that can read data DVD’s. So
far, of those interested, everyone can, so that would mean we could
put a lot more on a disc. I’ll let this poll run a while longer
and then start organizing this service.

Also going forward, I mentioned that I was considering developing
what I call “courses” for members. Not in the traditional sense
maybe, but what my intent was, was to organize common topics into
one place for easier access. For example, let’s take MMS (mini
money sites). There are the videos, the included software and
framework, the interview with Gary Nave, his success thread,
Michael Gunn’s thread in another section on his methods. There is
also the RSS:os software, Azlan’s WordPress plugins, whew!
Snippets here, snippets there.

I can understand why a new member now is overwhelmed. Just thinking
about it, the original stuff is all where it always was, and where
it should be, but so much has happened since last May, I need to
pull it all together (while leaving it in context in the separate
spots as well). Plus there is a need to update some of the stuff,
which I can do probably by simply adding some written comments
after the video is presented, rather than reshoot all the videos.

So my MMS “course” would be a page somewhere that will link to all
the separate components, the videos, the software, the audios, the
important threads, and tie it all together so if someone wanted to
learn about MMS, that’s where they should go first.

So that’s what I mean by a course. Another course came to mind
today, a new member asked what he could download to his mp3 player
and listen to, because he was going away for a few days. Hey,
linking all those great interviews and other mp3′s from one place
might make sense, might it not?

I can envision any number of courses set up like this. The first
priority will be to cover our business models, and it doesn’t
necessarily mean that all the content is contained in the forum.
for example, when I set up an article marketing course, I’ll
certainly want to link to Travis Sago’s site, probably to some
YouTube videos, to some of the main article directories, etc.

So that’s what I have in mind. Last week, before I got distracted
in recovering my lost data, I was going to purchase some
courseware, now in thinking and talking with Steven and Gregg, I
don’t think that’s necessary, I have an easier idea that will maybe
work better. So look for that to start happening very soon.

Did you notice the Warrior Forum changed? Drastically, in fact.
The old one is still around, but you can’t post there. When you go
to the new one, you have to reset your password before you can log
in, and your history is preserved, but it’s a whole new ballgame
there. Even WSO’s are run differently. I think it will take quite
a while for many to get used to. Here’s a thread that Jenn started:

Forum happenings:

We announced the July Member of the Month. For those relatively
new, the moderators vote every month and elect a person whose
contributions have been exceptional. Moderators and prior winners
are not eligible, so every month, the winner is different. The
contributions don’t necessarily have to be something done in the
month they won, it could be an accumulated thing. The winner gets
his or her 15 minutes of fame :-) plus under their user name they
get annotated as Member of the Month, and a cash prize, plus my
undying appreciation for contributing to the success of Earn1KaDay.

July’s Member of the Month is Leron Ford, for his willingness to
help members with technical problems whenever he can. You can read
more here:

Congratulations, Leron!

Matt Rhodes posted a pretty insightful thread this morning. Seems
he tried to give some advice to Warriors, and they just didn’t
catch on as quickly as he thought they would, so he’s counting on
us to be more savvy, I’m sure he’s probably right:

I’ve actually seen his method in operation, and I have to say it
works, so it’s something you might want to consider with your next
product. Thanks for the tip, Matt.

Well, that’s it for this week, I need to get back to work, no
matter how much I enjoy writing these emails every week. I hope
your weekend is fun and relaxing, while your IM efforts are making
you money while you relax and play. If not, let’s figure out how
to get you to that point, OK?

And until next week, I wish you all the best.

Dennis, the 5 Bucks a Day Guy.
