It’s really discouraging if you’re not earning money online yet. You see people around you having success and living the life you want to live. You see people using a business model you thought about trying months ago, and now they’re earning a full-time income from that same business model. Their success (and your lack thereof) has you turning green with envy. Why aren’t you one of those great success stories?

Maybe you’re brand-new to trying to make money online or maybe you’ve been trying to do it for years. Either way, it can be incredibly frustrating if you’re not earning yet. It can feel like you never will… Like you’ll never become like the successful online marketers you want to be so much.

You’re reading this right now, so that’s the first bit of good news. Your hunger for this information signals that you are ready to change things. You’re serious about your own success and you’re ready to take what is yours.

I’m going to detail 7 possible reasons you’re not earning money online yet (or not earning as much as you want to earn). Not only that, I’m going to tell you exactly what you can do about it so you can start earning sooner rather than later.

No matter what, I want you to know that it is possible for you to earn money online. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, it can absolutely happen for you. Look deep inside yourself and be honest about how these 7 reasons apply to you. You might find that one or two of them resonate or that they all do. When one of the reasons stands out or evokes a strong emotional response, take note of it. More importantly, take note of what you can do to move past it.

Reason #1: You Have No Idea What You’re Doing

Let’s start here. If you don’t have the right knowledge or skills, it’s going to be hard to earn money online. Of course, there are any number of different ways to build your business. It could be that you’re not focusing on the right things or really dedicating yourself to learning what it takes to succeed. If you’re new, then it’s very easy to get overwhelmed by all the information that’s out there– it’s not for lack of trying. It can feel impossible to pull out the most important information so you can take action with it.

If you’re experienced, then it’s very possible you’re confused. You have no clear path and your head is filled with the advice and directions of so many different people and so many different products that you have no clue what to do next.

What to Do About It

Don’t just accept the lack of knowledge or skill. Depending on your business model, it really shouldn’t take that much to get you going and earning money online. It’s a matter of finding the best information, the best teachers, and following through with what you learn. It’s a process of trial and error and taking action. Focus on one business model and one way of following through with that business model if you’re at all confused or overwhelmed. It’s often the case that you’re trying to focus on too much – you’re spreading yourself too thin when what you really need to do to earn money online is focus.

Reason #2: You Don’t Want It Bad Enough

Many people decide to look into ways to earn money online because it seems like it will be a lot of fun. It absolutely can be a lot of fun. On the other hand, you have to treat it like a real business or it will never become one.

It could be that you’re just treating earning money online as a hobby. You’re wasting time reading about the success of others without really thinking about how to make your own success a reality. Do you really want to earn extra money online? Do you want to earn life-changing money online? Or, is it just sort of fun to read about all of these different business models without ever actually making use of them yourself? Be honest.

What to Do About It

It’s time to decide why you’re really doing this. Look deep inside yourself. Do you actually want this? Is the online lifestyle right for you? As much as I love running an online business, I fully realize that this lifestyle and these online business models are not for everyone. Not everyone wants to write as much as you might have to write for an online business. Not everyone wants to deal with the technical hassles. Not everyone wants to try to recruit affiliates, set up product funnels, network, and so on.

If it is worth it for you to earn from home, then it’s time to figure out your reason why. Yes, earning money online can be a lot of fun. But it’s much more than that. You have to look deep inside yourself and figure out why you want to do this. Maybe it’s that you want to clear away debts, quit your job, and change your life and the lives of your family members. You have to want it bad enough or you won’t have the strength to keep pushing forward even when the going gets tough. People who don’t want it bad enough and haven’t figured out their reason why tend to give up before they actually earn money. They tend to slip from one project to another.

Reason #3: You’ve Been Led Astray

Before I go too deep into this point, I want you to know that this is usually not the reason people don’t earn money online. Most people get in their own way, rather than having someone else get in their way.

With that said, there are certainly bad teachers and scammers out there. There are people who just want to sell you on methods and theories or pull the wool over your eyes to get you to hand over your credit card.

Are you learning from the right people? There are many more reputable, helpful online marketers and teachers than there are scammers and bad ones. But you have to be diligent and make sure you’re learning from the right people. If you’re following bad strategies and focusing on those who will only lead you astray, then it will absolutely hold you back and prevent you from making real money online. It’s a draining and scary problem to have.

What to Do About It

It’s time to reevaluate who you’re learning from, which products you buy, and who you admire. Really think about which online teachers and marketers really resonate with you the most. Network with those you admire. Find learners just like yourself (that’s one reason I started my free Facebook group, which you are welcome to join). Get to know people in the Internet marketing space. You can learn from one another – even people who are on the same “level” you’re on.

Google the teachers you’re learning from. Look at the reviews. Look at the chatter surrounding certain products and marketers on marketing forums. Follow those who are truly successful and who have your best interests at heart.

Reason #4: You Haven’t Set Goals

I fully realize that this is not a very sexy topic, but it’s really important. In fact, the majority of my products stress the importance of setting goals. If you want to earn money online, then you have to know what you’re aiming for. You can’t just decide that you want to earn “more” money and expect to succeed. You need to know how much money you want to earn, and by when. Set very strong, very specific goals and you’ll be a lot more likely to earn money online. It gives your brain something to work toward and it helps you take the right kinds of actions so you can achieve your goals.

What to Do About It

Sit down and write down every goal you can think of related to your online business. Don’t edit yourself right now – just get these words down on paper. Set your timer for 10 minutes or so and don’t stop until the timer has gone off.

Then, examine your list and narrow things down to your top goals. Focus on goals for now as well as goals for the future. Next, consider whether those goals are specific enough. You want to use exact time frames, dollar amounts, and very detailed, very vivid goals.

Once you have your top goals and have made them very specific, close your eyes and imagine yourself achieving these goals. Do this every so often. When you plan your day to day activities related to your business, visit your goals first to get your mindset on the right track.

Reason #5: You Jump Around On Projects

If I had to bet money on it, I’d say that this is the #1 reason people tend not to succeed online. This is a problem I’ve personally dealt with and that just about every online marketer I’ve ever spoken to has dealt with. There are so many wonderful ways to make money online that it’s easy to jump from one thing to another. Not to mention that when you’re learning from marketers, they have a way of making you think that the things they’re promoting are the answer for you. When your inbox is flooded with these “answers” day after day, it’s hard not to jump around. It’s damaging to your mindset, your focus, and your ability to make money online.

The problem isn’t relying on different business models or having more than one iron in the fire. The problem is if you jump around from product to project before you succeed with any of them. If you never follow through and finish anything, then you’ll never make money online. It’s as simple as that.

What to Do About It

Right here and now, I want you to decide which business model you are pulled toward the most. Put everything else on the back burner. Focus your learning, strategies, goals, mindset, and actions around this one specific business model. If it’s Kindle marketing, great. If it’s offline marketing, great. If it’s Amazon FBA, great. If it’s affiliate marketing, great. Whatever it is, focus on it and only it. You are going to focus on this business model, start a project that will earn you money, and follow it through to completion. Only then will you consider other projects and other business models.

Reason #6: You Haven’t Given It Enough Time

Sometimes, online marketing is more like the tortoise than the hare. You do the work now, and it seems like the fruits of your labor will never come. But it could be that you just have to keep pushing. So many people start projects they are really excited about that they give up on when they don’t earn money right away. Really, they should’ve just pushed a little while longer and they would’ve found success.

Success could be just around the corner for you. Give it some time. Make sure you’re doing everything you can to take action and implement the right kind of strategies. If you’re doing that, and if you’re following a winning business model, there’s no reason why you won’t succeed… It will just take time.

What to Do About It

Try to find the success stories of those who’ve been successful with the business model you’ve chosen. Many online blogs are dedicated to charting the success of a particular project or business model for a marketer from start to finish. People post their Kindle success stories (here’s a Kindle case study example), affiliate marketing success stories (here’s an Amazon affiliate marketing case study), Amazon FBA success stories (here’s a blog charting a journey toward becoming full time with FBA), and so on.

Make sure you’re not getting swayed by those who paint a glossy picture. It’s easy for someone to say they were an overnight success story, but what you don’t see are the ups and downs that came before that “overnight success.” Success doesn’t happen in a straight line!

Keep moving forward, keep taking action, and success will come to you.

Reason #7: You’re Not Passionate About It

Are you truly passionate about making money online? If you’re not passionate, then it’s time to think about why you’re doing this, and what you really hope to get out of it. Find your passion and you’ll find the money.

What to Do About It

It’s time to do some self-evaluation. Have you chosen the right business model? If you’ve chosen a business model that seemed great because it would help you earn money, but doesn’t really suit your personality or what you want to do, then it’s time to face that now. If you don’t have passion for your business, then you’re not truly free. You want to earn money online because of the freedom it can offer you. Find a business model you can be passionate about and then you’ll be much more likely to follow it through to completion and really start earning money online. The money is there, you just have to have the passion and the follow through to get it.

Let me just say first: List Building Avalanche has some solid information. It covers the basics of list-building, setting up your auto-responder, your squeeze page, and selecting a giveaway. It also has some very helpful information about testing and tracking.

Then there’s the sales funnel information. Paul covers lots of ways to do your funnels. There are mind maps of the different sales funnels, and I really liked those. I also like having the list of solo ad sources. They were very affordable, and if they get results, that’s something really useful.

But the videos…

This is a perfect example of why I hate video courses. The videos are slooowww. He talks really slow, and repeats himself and rambles a lot. It really felt like there was no “script” at all; that he just hit the record button and started winging it. I watched the videos at 1.6 speed which helped some, but that didn’t remove the distracting, rambling way he covered the material.

There is almost 2 ½ hours of video, and the information that’s in them could have been covered, in my opinion, in half the time.

There is a one-time offer of a “Super Advanced Branch Off List Building” system, which covers how to segment your lists according to their interests, etc. It includes an additional list of solo ad sources and two more mind maps.

The information is good. I liked the mind maps and the solo ad lists. I didn’t like the videos at all. Unfortunately, you have to watch the videos to really get the full scope of the mind maps. A quick start guide or checklist in PDF format would be really helpful.

Avalance list building is a series of videos that cover how to build a list. It covers squeeze pages, autoresponders, OTO’s, and more. It covers what to do when someone goes from a prospect to a buyer. It is a good course that will help you build a list.

The only thing I have against it is that he uses a $97 wordpress theme throughout all the videos. I feel he should show how to set the stuff up using a plain WordPress blog.

There is an OTO with the product. Is it worth it? I think somebody just starting out would be overwhelmed with it. I’d say, stick with the main product, and you can branch out from that.

This is a product review on Marketing with Alex, another product in our review series.

Marketing with Alex (Jeffries) is a highly well-rounded coaching coarse that strives to provide you with tons and tons of information about how you can successfully make money online. The course includes modules on traffic generation, social media, list building, joint ventures, outsourcing, and a lot more.

What our reviewer said:

Alex Jeffries is offering his coaching course, which cost $990 to take part in last year, as a WSO for $27.

There is a great amount of material supplied – 11 audios in the first part alone.

Each section concentrates on a specific part of the Internet Marketing process.

There is a PDF of the slides from each presentation as well as a recording of a Question and Answer session for most of the sections. These sessions give more detail on some points, which some of the attendees to the live sessions were unsure of or particularly interested in. It’s likely that they will help buyers to get the most value from each topic.

You’ll appreciate this material if, like me, you have ever listened to a presentation and thought of questions which you thought weren’t covered in enough detail. The attendees questions will probably cover what you might have asked, though Alex does do a good job anyway, in my opinion.

Some of the Q & A sessions have Alex reading and replying to questions and others have questions and comments “live” from attendees at the course. The attendees’ comments are interesting and Alex’s answers are straightforward. Some comments are compliments and similar chit-chat, but there is also plenty of “meat” to be gained by listening to them.

You will want to make notes, probably lots of them.

I suggest that you arrange the downloaded material in a similar fashion to the way it is laid out on the site so that you can check you have not missed any sections or parts.

The amount of material may seem overwhelming, but Alex’s presentation is like he’s speaking to some friends, which is easy to listen to and understand.

The main recordings and the slides and mindmaps are downloadable. The bonus recordings can be watched online. The quantity and quality is high, so be prepared for that.

The sales page for this WSO is long but still does not detail all the material supplied!

While some might have wished for transcripts, I believe that the value is very high and that buyers will get value above the cost of the WSO.

Beginners will get a wide-ranging education in many aspects of Internet Marketing, and experienced operators will also find value in Alex’s experience, tips, and advice.

Overall Impressions:

I think that this opportunity to learn from an experienced, successful Internet marketer at your own pace is well worth the investment and that buyers will probably refer back to this.

They need to add action to get the value available, and Alex does provide plenty of encouragement and resources.

I used VLC Media player to listen to the sessions. It has an option to speed up the playback, which might be helpful considering the amount of material provided.

I recommend this WSO as high value for buyers and as a standard which people offering WSO’s should aim for.

Overall Impression:

This is a pretty good product. If you follow it step by step you should make a good bit of money while building a business in the process.

This is a review for the following three products in our review series:  Bring In 2012 with a Big Bang, Twitter Profit Secrets, and Cash In on Unwanted Holiday Gifts.

Our reviewer decided to bundle these three products together into one review because they were created by the same person and possess several other commonalities.

What our reviewer had to say:

To be honest, I was underwhelmed and a little disappointed. I’m on a couple of lists for the creator of these products, and I enjoy what I get from her there and on her blog, but these seemed to be thrown together quickly and contained little detail.

First, I’ll just give a quick run-down, because they all had these things in common:

All of these were very basic. They outlined a “what to do” scenario with very little “how to do” included in the reports. Instead, she linked out to various blogs and articles “for more information on how to…”

At the beginning of each was a title page, a hyperlinked table of contents, an acknowledgements page, a dedication page, a legal page, a picture of donuts and coffee and a cartoon. That took you to about page 9.

At the end were an About the Author page, a page about her affiliate program, recommended resources, more cartoons, traffic resources, three pages of her other material, and a page with a quote on it. That all added up to another 9 pages.

The silliness on these was over the top, and it was distracting. I’m all for humor and an informal, conversational tone, but this was just silly, and seemed forced.

How valuable they are would depend I guess on whether you know anything at all about the subject. If you do, you should probably skip these. In my opinion, these reports are more suited to be opt-in reports, or free giveaways to get your links out there. I wouldn’t want to pay for these. If I HAD paid for them, I’d ask for a refund.

Bring In 2012 with A Big Bang

This report was about building a list. It basically told you to pick something to give away, set up an autoresponder, and build a squeeze page. There wasn’t any instruction on how to do any of those things, but lots of links out to various blog posts and articles. There was also a little bit of about how to get traffic to you page. Very basic stuff.

Twitter Profit Secrets

This one was a little bit better. She did go through some instruction, although she still linked out to other sites for most of the detailed information. I’m pretty uninformed when it comes to Twitter, so I did pick up a couple of things that I might be able to put to use. Still, more filler than substance though.

Cash In on Unwanted Holiday Gifts

This one was my least favorite of all of the reports. It was literally, a list of things to do if you get a gift and don’t want it. It went through all of the typical answers, including returning it to the store and the various places you can try to sell it. Yawn.

First of all, it could be renamed “How to add Amazon and Clickbank widgets to your blog” – because that’s what most of the product covers. In very annoying, cutesy ways. Not to mention most of the first 9 pages are pretty useless (pictures of coffee and donuts inviting you to have a snack on one – really? Yeah. Oy.)

A LOT of affiliate product suggestions. I count at least 10 pages touting various plugins, products and such.

And here is what is on one page:

3 sentences, suggesting that you write an Angry Birds buying guide. One of those sentences is that Santa might be visiting you if you do it and sell a lot. *facepalm*

Plus a page of cartoons. No, I’m not kidding. Cartoons. Not even related to IM, just….random.

One whole page of “Fortune Favors the Bold.”

*reads more* Oh look! Even more affiliate products touted.

I’m disappointed. I LOVE Angry Birds. I was looking forward to learning some stuff from this and using it.

Overall Impression:

This was god-awful. Seriously. While there IS a good section on adding Amazon widgets to a site/blog, that’s all that is really helpful. And that’s maybe 12 of the 50+ pages. This thing is full of fluff.

$100 a Day Using SEO with Richard Legg strives to teach you a strategy that will allow you to launch brand-new websites to the top of Google within 24 hours and generate tons of cash-in-hand buyers.

This product consists of 10 interviews with 10 different marketers. Some I’ve heard of and some I’ve haven’t heard of.

Each interview is provided as a MP3 and is average of 50 minutes. A PDF of the interviews is also included for people who want to follow along as they listen to the MP3′s.

They give a brief intro into how they got their start in Internet Marketing.

They then go on to tell how they would make $100 a day if they had to start over. While some of the methods may not be what you would want to try yourself, they all provide solid info on making money online. There is no reason why you couldn’t take parts from each one and create something that would fit you better.

This is a decent product that I’m sure will give you ideas on making your first $100 a day online.

Just one warning about the recordings, the interviewer is hard to understand at times. He has a really thick accent that makes you have to listen really closely when he is talking.

Overall Impression:

Would I recommend this? A lot of this is basic Internet Marketing information that if you went out and looked for you could find. But he saves you from having to go out and find it.

…Yes, I would recommend this product; the bonuses alone are worth the money.

For people not familiar with traffic generation, they provide both free and paid methods to get traffic to your customer’s video. (This part alone is awesome!)

Twitter Profit Secrets strives to show you the ins and outs of how successful marketers make money from using Twitter.

What our reviewer had to say:

This is a 48 page product on Twitter. The first 8 pages covers the table of contents, a dedication page, an acknowledgment page, a legal notice page and a snack page (a picture of some coffee and dough nuts).

The next few pages deal with setting up a Twitter account, doing a tweet, and showing how it will get listed in Google for that keyword.

She covers how to personalize your twitter pages and where to get the graphics.

She goes over Twitter directories that will help you with your money making endeavors.

She covers how to make your tweets automatic and semi-automatic using different resources and covers setting up accounts.

She also covers using Twitter to help you land offline businesses.

In the last 9 pages she talks about herself, her other products, recommended resources, and the other WSO’s she has going on. She ends it with an inspirational quote on the last page.

I’m not a Twitter expert – far from it. But I do know that one of the most important things about using twitter is using Hash Tags so people can find what they are looking for. She does not go over these or even mentions using them.

Overall Impressions:

Would I recommend this product? Honestly I don’t know. I do know if I had paid for it, I would seriously consider asking for a refund. This would be because I feel she could have covered more of the basics of Twitter as far as making tweets people would find interesting, using Hash Tags and the like.
